Getting Around London

Here comes the London Bus!! And the black taxi! These two magnets have been featured before, but not this particular photograph: Taxi & Bus.

Cowboy Boots

This 200th magnet of mine is very special. Very pretty. Very interesting. Imagine hunky sexy guys working with horses... or cows... minus the stinky stable smell. You get the picture.
.

It comes from very far away. Gonna cost a bomb if we are to go to its place of origin. One of those cities that I know I'd never be able to visit. Good thing Izwan was assigned to go there and assasinate someone (heheh.. Perasan 'Wanted" ala Angelina Jolie la ni).

Well, the pair of boots below is not runway boots men drool when they see them worn by long legged short kirt blondie. But it is sure a sweet pair. On the men in the bove pictures. Izwan got this fridge magnet from Houston, Texas when he was there early this year of a Citrix event.

Isn't it gorgeous? It's 2D, by the way.

Let's Go Shopping!

Let's go shopping! Where? Oxford Street. This Oxford Street, City of Westminster magnet came direct from London! Thanks to Onn who went for a holiday there with his family. Well, shall I say Onn 'balik kampung' but the rest of his family went for a holiday? Anyways, he got me two very nice fridge magnets, and this is one of them.
Here's Onn, with his Malaysian side exposed - makan nasi dengan sambal ikan bilis + kacang. But do you know what the smile is all about? It is about the stuff on the big plate. See picture below.

It's the freshly fried hot ayam kampung!!

Ying Ying The Fuwa

Izwan's office mate Rozana went to China earlier this year. I think it has something to do with the upcoming Olympics. And Rozana got us (me?) a Beijing 2008 magnet! Sukanya kita!! I wonder if they sell the entire collection of magnets online. I'd like to have one set.

They have five mascots - I read on a website that like the Five Olympic Rings from which they draw their color and inspiration, Fuwa (the mascots) will serve as the Official Mascots of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, carrying a message of friendship and peace -- and good wishes from China -- to children all over the world.

Designed to express the playful qualities of five little children who form an intimate circle of friends, Fuwa also embody the natural characteristics of four of China's most popular animals -- the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow -- and the Olympic Flame. Each of Fuwa has a rhyming two-syllable name -- a traditional way of expressing affection for children in China. Beibei is the Fish, Jingjing is the Panda, Huanhuan is the Olympic Flame, Yingying is the Tibetan Antelope and Nini is the Swallow.

Rozana bought Ying Ying for us. Here she is:

Butterfly Park

During the May school holidays, I took my children to the Kuala Lumpur Butterfly Park. The kids had fun, although initially they were afraid of the butterflies fluttering so close to them, and so many of them butterflies too!

Here are some pics:

At the end of our visit, of course there was a souvenir shop. I bought the cheapest butetrly magnet I can find. Those with the wordings "Taman Rama-Rama" or "Butterfly Park" look so ugly, so this one below is the best bet - cheap and quite pretty.

Sainsbury Animal Magnets

Where from: Nottingham, England
When: 2008
Who: Nik Yurni Nik Mustapha
Where now: They're too cute. So they'll stay at the office.
Counting still : #192, 193, 194, 195

Nik Yurni and family came back to Malaysia for a five week summer vacation. We've met up several times, including the night the above picture was taken - in Johor Bahru last week!

The magnets is a set of four - cat, elephant, monkey and mouse. Here they are - feast your eyes - coz they're mine, not yours !!! BAWAHAHAHAHA (sound effect : evil laughter)

Thanks Nik, I love them! Like I said earlier, they're so cute, they're mine and they'll stay at the office. Not that I don't trust my kids to play with them at home... but oh well, I don't have to justify myself, ait? :-P

Semi Water Globe? Water Semi-Globe?

Izwan took the opportunity to watch a baseball game when he was there for the Citrix Synergy 2008. It was a free ticket, actually.

The local Houston Astro was playing. Well, that is the accompanying story to this lovely water globe magnet that he bought there. Precious little thing, I pray everytime I see Hafiz play with it... I do fear it'll break if Hafiz is not careful.
It does not look like it is a water globe when I take a picture of it the same way I do with my other magnets: So, to satisfy myself, here it is again, in my hand (and whoa...! Cute chubby fingers you have there, Mira): Where from: Houston, Texas, USA

Movie World

Firah bought me some fridge magnets from Gold Coast!! Yipee yay yay. Three cheers for Firah. This one is from Movie World.

Walking down memory lane, I remember meeting Firah for the very first time. At the good ole AZY. I just started practising and was 'loaned' to the conveyancing department as they were in need for someone to handle the tenants of a (then) new posh and (now) successful shopping mall.

Shida, Aida, me, Firah and Yaya in April

It was Firah's first day at the office. And we clicked almost instantly. And the usual group (pic above) of us who would roam the backlanes behind Jalan Raja Chulan for lunch had a new member. And it was a fabulous gang. Still is!!

Hey Mickey, You So Fine!

Where from: Disneyland, Hong Kong

Counting still : #189

Lisa and her family went to Hong Kong for a break. And they stayed at one of the hotels in Disneyland; and got me a couple of magnets. This is a picture frame, XL size compared to most of the magnets in my collection. It is so colourful!

Here's a pic of the family on vacation. It's kinda blur, coz I snapped a pic of a printed picture :-)

By the way, I was told that Kusha loved the High School Musical parade at Disneyland. Habis la you Lisa, the ice skating version is coming to Malaysia... and tickets are not cheap!!

Back From Hiatus....

Helloooooo ..... and here I am, updating this blog :-)

My last entry was on 12th May 2008 - which is more than two months ago! And surprise surprise while I was on 'sabbatical' from this blog, about 550 unique visitors have dropped by. Amazing, isn't it? I am so glad! Maybe I should go 'hiding' again soon :-)

I received an email from a lady by the name of Roziana, who complimented this blog and expressed her interest on fridge magnets too. Thanks so much, Roziana! Your email made my day. Bersemangat I nak meng-update kan this blog.
.

Although I still haven't found the thumb drive that went hiding, I took the liberty to take photos of those magnets that I have received for the last three or four months- yep, they're all in a white paper bag as seen in the first picture above.

The photography session at my office during lunch - I skipped lunch just for that, but Roziana, I am not blaming you - the satisfaction? More than words can say! You can see the coloured papers on my white board and the stack of books that replaces a tripod.

Last week, I also received wonderful magnets from Doodlemom last week - yay yay - and here's a sample:

Can you see William Shakespeare in the picture above? It has quickly climbed the ladder to be one of my favourites! It's so cute!!
