Arizona is located in the Western United States as one of the Four Corners states. Arizona is the sixth largest state in area, after New Mexico and before Nevada. Of the state's 118,000 square miles (306,000 km²), approximately 15% is privately owned. The remaining area is public forest and park land, recreation areas and Native American reservations.

Not Quite North Carolina

Who went to North Carolina? That's a big question mark. My answer is simple: probably the guy who was selling this magnet. Actually this is another tipu-tipu. We bought this magnet in Laughlin. The vendor was selling all sorts of magnets, from Utah to don't-know-where. Here's a pic of my husband and our children in Laughlin. It was windy and the air is cool and refreshing. We walked along Colorado River that night and hopped from one casino to another collecting coins tubs.

This is the oldest of the lot. I bought it in 1999; Izwan & I first visit to USA; kinda controversial as they were confrontations (or was it total avoidance?) with third parties. Anyway it was a great trip.

Lightning McQueen's Home

It was cold breezy morning when we arrived at Grand Canyon. In fact, it was still cold and breezy during lunchtime. But the view was amazing. Breathtaking ... and it was surreal!

Here are some pictures we took:

The kids certainly enjoyed the weather although it was a bit much. 7 degrees celcius, If I am not mistaken. But I would go there again, if I have the opportunity.

It is also the home of Lightning McQueen of Cars. BTW on the magnet, it is a picture of Grandview Point and Navajo Mountain along the East Rim drive. Grandview Point is located 600 feet above Grand Canyon Village. The distance from the South Rim to the North Rimvaries from half a mile to 18 miles and has a max depth of 6000 feet. Info is taken from the back of the magnet itself.

Smiles and Giggles

I bought this magnet along the Walk of Fame because I wanted some magnets for the office. I didn't show it to my children - as the picture is rather interesting, as you can see here and I don't want to have to put it on the fridge at home :-)

So here are some of the smiles and giggles from LA:

Angkor What?

Thanks to Grace, this magnet is now sitting comfortably in my office. She & hubby Sathish went for the trip mid last year. Here's a picture of Angkor Wat you often see. And below that, an aerial picture of Angkor Wat... a picture you don't see often.

At the center of Angkor Wat are five towers that represent the five peaks of Mount Meru. The round towers mark out the corners and the center of the innermost square of the complex. Like the mountain peaks they represent, the towers are pointed on top. The pinnacle of each tower is slightly lighter than the surrounding black stone in this image.

From EO newsroom: Tucked deep in the Cambodian rainforest, the ancient Angkor Wat temple is considered one of the most valuable architectural sites in Asia. Angkor Wat is the pinnacle of the city of Angkor, capital of the once-powerful Khmer Empire of Southeast Asia. The temple was built by Suryavarman II between 1113 and 1150 AD. Dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu, Angkor Wat is a representation of Mount Meru, home of the gods and the center of the Hindu universe. In addition to its unique pyramid temple architecture, Angkor Wat is covered with intricate bas-relief carvings of Hindu epics.

Many of the symbolic architectural features are clearly visible in this Ikonos image, acquired on April 12, 2004. The temple complex is surrounded by a 174-meter- (570-foot-) wide moat, visible in the large image, that represents the oceans at the edge of the universe. A stone causeway leads through the Hindu universe to the temple home of the gods from the west, on the left side of the image. The temple complex itself is a series of buildings on rising terraces like the slopes of a mountain.

Stockholm on Red

Thank you Onnair, for this one. She went for an official visit to several places in Europe, including Stockholm, the capital of Sweden. In the picture below, the good old days when Onnair and Mimi were still employees of a client of mine.

Here's no 79, in blue and red background. Izwan bought it during his working trip in the first quarter of 2007 - just several months after our family trip.
I'm gonna be a bit unfair on Izwan and put a picture of my children instead :-)
Hey, it is still LA; although this particular fridge magnet wasn't bought during this trip!

Langkawi Fish

No. 77 is is a fish imported from Langkawi, gift from Zanzarida. One of her children used to study in a boarding school there, I believe. Hafiz is very fond of this fish. He'd take it and 'cook' it whenever I'm in the kitchen preparing a fish. His menu includes fish soup and fried fish.
Thanks, Zan!
